New York has a new kind of menacing gang called, THE SMUGGLERS.These groups roam around the world to find things that would be smuggled in America. They look for trade and riches, just like the old world. The center of their activities are in Five Points, New York.

The year was 1860 when the first generation smugglers springs in the city. At first their trade is on armaments and textile. They also support the U.S. government in terms of armaments. After the 19th century they invest on liquor and alcohol spirits because the profits are promising. In prohibition the state captured a lot of speakeasy and bootlegger but never smuggler. Smuggler serves as an valuable ally and business partner to the Mafia Don, because they can also buy politicians. The Don protect them eagerly in exchange to smugglers' partnership.
There was a time when all ships in the docks of New York are owned by these smugglers.
The recruitment for smugglers starts from a very young age. At age of seven the kids are forced to sell matches, newspaper, fruits and everything that could be sold on the streets. Every kids are scouted by the Family's Consiglieri itself and taught them the tricks of the trade, as well as developing contacts. When the child is ready the cosca will build a front for their smuggling business.
Smugglers often use aliases. All of them are descendants of Italians, Irish and German who immigrated to United States to seek good fortune in the last century. Unlike other mafia recruits they are not oblige to make their bones, as long as they make dough for the Don it is fine, but are not acknowledge as mafiosi -- just a mere associate. Because of that they form a organization of their own who works for every family. They are bonded of profit, not blood.
