The art of Pen and Sword

The art of pen and sword is the emphasis on Miyamoto Musashi’s Ground Book --- one of the chapter of Book of Five rings. Sword and pen are two contrasting ways. Sword is for your strength and pen is for your ideals: Combat and Literature; Mind and Body. This two are interconnected and you need to understand it if you want to practice the way of the warrior.

Sword
The way of the sword is one of the two ways an aspiring warrior must understand and practice. Practice your craft or be physically fit in order to fulfill your designated task.  Your body is important so don’t every day. Train 1,000 days you will not be a master but you are a warrior, Train 1,000 days you may not be experienced but you are skillful. The ways is in training, one must polish his craft.

Pen
Literature/Education. True strength  is not measured only by a brute force. A man able to read, write and educated have it is an advantage as far as history is involved. Invest in educations, books and intellectual discussion to improve your mind and have a ready wit. A sound mind is a sound body—the way you think affect the things you do. Your ideas fill the emptiness of a brute force. Samurais, too, studied history and poetry in medieval Japan.

The way is in training
In many profession training serves as an integral part of your profession’s fundamental. Training means conditioning your mind, body and skills to provide the best result which you do whole-heartedly. If you not give your best its useless.
